Although it's not on a button, I use a free program called ePrompter
(http://www.eprompter.com/), which sits in the tray and lets me check
multiple email accounts (16) in Pop3, Hotmail, Gmail and many others.
You can click on it to see who sent you mail and the subject. It
doesn't show the size but you can read, send or delete mail right from
the program.
