The only performance problems that I understand and have tried to address relate to active buttons. I tried some things to fix this in beta's after 4.5, but went too far, and the impact of these wrong changes also affected things other than active buttons. I have backed out all of the changes that were causing problems to other users in 4.5.05. I have also added alternative ideas for addressing issues related to icons on active buttons. But that is all these ideas address. I don't understand the source of the problems you are experiencing. As I understand the symptoms, you experience problems with a bar showing when you bump the screen edge while a high usage program is running, and furthermore these problems were not there in earlier versions. I have tried to duplicate this running Ad Aware aware doing a full can, but have not seen the issue. Its very difficult for me to understand or fix an issue which I do not see in my testing. If you want to post a .ini export of your bar, perhaps something will stand out in your configuration which I had not thought of. I would agree with Alan's point that you stick with a version that is giving you good performance unless you really want to use a feature in a later version. You may also wish to try the icl idea, but frankly, whereas I can understand how this might help with performance, I also don't see any thing in the last few releases that would have changed with regard to processing of .ico version .icl files, so .ico usage does not seem to be a reason while your performance worsened.
