Cüneyt asked about embedding html javscript xml etc in a PowerPro bar.

There are already several ways to make and show widgets, mostly freeware,
such as AveDesk, KlipFolio, Samurize, Google Gadgets, Opera Widgets,
Yahoo Widgets (formerly Konfabulator), Stardock DesktopX,
and even Microsoft is catching up with their gadgets for Vista sidebar.

It would be easy to make any of those objects *seem* to be
embedded in a PowerPro bar. Actually instead of embedding or
attaching the widget/gadget/gizmo/gimmick to a bar, you would
attach the bar to the gimmick container with the usual bar
positioning features. A PowerPro bar next to a widget
could look like one object if they are skinned alike.

IMHO it would be unwise and unnecessary for PowerPro to expand into
that area.
It could add a lot of bloat and overhead, new bugs and performance
issues, etc, and possibly not do it as well as some of the widget
engines listed above, which specialize in doing htm, php, etc,
based widgets without attempting all the Windows API based stuff
that PowerPro is specially good at.

If you're into that stuff, it would be better to use the existing
software and participate in their related communities.
Those widget apps have their own forums and galleries of many free
example widgets - a thousand clocks, unit converters, RSS feeds of
stock prices and weather "right on your desktop", all the usual trash,
plus help and support for creating your own, if making yet another
JavaScript clock is the best way to spend your time.

Among the exciting possibilities:
Your life could be enhanced with a widget (semi-transparent and
skinned with rounded corners of course) which downloads a new
ringtone each day for your mobile phone. tHaT wOuLd bE sO cOoL

I was about to send the message above when I saw another message
from Cüneyt, again asking Bruce to do a huge amount of work:

> Using IE only, you can't put a borderless, titleless window on the
> desktop or embed a small 200x15 scrolling RSS-feed in a PP-bar. Think
> about it. Desktop widgets, Internet pages, newstickers, games,
> JavaScript, and all that jazz in Powerpro. Oh boy, it'd be great!

Oh boy, if that stuff would be great, why would it be any better
"in Powerpro" than in one of the existing widget programs or in a browser?

Who do you mean by "We"?

> Have you seen Opera's widgets? What I have in mind should look
> much like those.
So use Opera widgets.

I've seen some amazing feature requests over the years.
This one wins a prize for the least additional usefulness
compared to the amount of work required.
