Sorry, I seemed to do what Bruce said myself:
dll.call("SetClassLong|ui i i",hWnd,-26,;;+
dll.call("GetClassLong|ui i",hWnd,-26) | 0x20000)
I was misled as this was/seemed an one-way effect: once enabled,
keeping on enabled until disabled explicitly.
Now, I disabled it (once) and the shadow gone completely.
