Thanks so much for going into this more for me, Cü, it's really interesting & I hadn't considered this before at all! I'm not a C programmer, maybe that is why? (Or maybe I'm just thick:) I will take your word for the CPU overhead, can't be arsed trying it. ;) My system is nowhere near as powerful as yours (I'm on 933mhz cpu & 386mb ram) so the overhead should be even more noticable for me.
