Hi group,

Following Owen's question about the replacement string syntax, I decided
to improve on its parsing... and, as I set to work on code I didn't
touch for a couple of years, I naturally found bugs, stuff I wanted to
improve, and so on (mostly stuff I intended to do at some point and
forgot about).
There are a couple of serious bugs in the current version (1.3.1), one
of which could lead to buffer overflows for people handling large
strings. So, eventhough there's a lot of untested code (and therefore
probably a couple of brand new bugs) in the new version, I would urge
heavy users to get it (and test it).
Also, if you're doing *many* matches (and/or using *many*
backreferences) on *long* strings, the performance improvement should be
quite substantial.
See changes.txt for the new replacement parsing rules. Most users
needn't look at it though... it only concerns corner cases really. At
least we've got somewhat consistent rules laid out now. Again, for
people who are confused: the replacement string is not parsed by PCRE
but by the plugin so it can contain newlines and such. The only parsing
the plugin is doing is to locate/replace backreferences.

So here's the new version:

Yeah, I dumped my free host following the complaints (now using my
ISP)... here's my new PP page:
