I made a small discovery that sheds a bit of light into the Places bar
problem I mentioned earlier. But, I don't know how to interpret it.
I imported the bar into an empty pcf and the problem remained. What I
did discover though is that if I first click on the Recent Folders
button that is the last button of the bar, the rest of the bar will
then work. I don't have to actually select a recent folder but just
call up the menu. After that I can navigate to one of my fixed folder
selections and it will work properly. Full bar follows:
