I cannot really explain this beyond that it is some bug which gets 
activated in special circumstances; further, such cirucumstances can 
change just by the re-arrangement of things in memory with new 
configurations or a new version of PowerPro.

I am not putting effort into bug fixes any more but if you can find a 
set of circumstances which consistently create the problem and which 
are easy for me to duplicate on empty.pcf, I may take a look.
