Yep, it's almost always been the case that new members are moderated (same with all the other groups that I own/help moderate). The spam problem from bots is just too bad otherwise (we probably see 3-10/week that the list never knows about). I think when the group was first established, it took us about 6 months to finally figure out this was the best config. The way the group works is: - Join the group, you're posts are auto-set as moderated - Once the new member sends a post to the group a decision is made. Is it spam? Ban new user and kick them out of the group, delete the spam message. Is the message related to powerpro? Set the user to use "group settings" which is messages are unmoderated and they're considered good list members. We (the moderators) only get involved again with them if something unusual happens.
