Which version of quicktime you running?

I'll see if I can fiddle around with waits or something to minimise chance of 
that.

I put COWAIT_INPUTAVAILABLE in, com failed to produce 
any handles (meaning probably calls like CoCreateInstance failed: I didn't go 
into debug mode to find out).
