I know about them and I also know the wiki but I prefer the PostMessage method because at least in my system, cli switches have a minor but still noticeable lag, the command isn't immediately applied (I even see for a brief moment the hourglass cursor). If my memory isn't playing games with me, I remember seeing similar complaints on hydrogenaudio forums and people asking for others ways to control it like COM. Let me also add that this behavior happens with all versions, not just the last one. I guess, is something within foobar code that makes it lag. But thanks anyway.
