I am about to compile a new kernel for my t40 running up-to-date debian
sid. I have read through the archives and have decided on using
2.6.22-rc4. I have a few questions, though.
In patching, I have downloaded these patches:
hpet_patches_45.patch
patch-2.6.22-rc4-hrt7.patch
I believe these are necessary to get HPET working on this machine. To
discover the chipset I ran lspci with this output:

Seems I have the ich4-m chipset. Did I not read somewhere that the
hpet_patches_45.patch must be applied before the
patch-2.6.22-rc4-hrt7.patch?
Also, from the same page where I fetched patch-2.6.22-rc4-hrt7.patch
there was an archive named patch-2.6.22-rc4-hrt7.patches.tar.bz2. Lots of
patches in there... some of which I know I do not need because they are
for 64 bit machines. What of the others?
Also, is the 2.6.22-rc1 patch from the powertop site needed for the rc4
kernel?
If there are any more patches I am forgetting that might prove useful,
please point me in the right direction.
