On the other hand, powertop is of limited use for a liveCD : it won't give you any clue on optimising whatever OS you have actually installed, and you will hardly be able to tweak your liveCD kernel if it needs to be. Consider installing linux on your harddrive, where you'll be able to properly tweak things.
