Hi, I just installed powertop on a fairly idle server and I see it wake up about 50 times per second:
> Wakeups-from-idle per second : 51.6 interval: 15.0s > no ACPI power usage estimate available > > Top causes for wakeups: > 35.9% ( 10.9) <interrupt> : extra timer interrupt > 23.0% ( 7.0) python : schedule_timeout (process_timeout) ... The interrupt wakeups are no surprise .. it is old pentium II hardware and I guess there's no HPET there ... but the python process was a surprise. At first I suspected "fail2ban" but it turnes out that "mailman" is the culprit. More to the point "/usr/bin/python /var/lib/mailman/bin/qrunner" and its variations are to blame. I run mailman 2.1.11 and I see that the "power" mailing list is hosted on a system running mailman 2.1.9, which I suspect to be equally bad. Quite ironic, isn't it :-) I try to bring this to the mailman developer's attention here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mailman/+bug/346006 cheers -henrik _______________________________________________ Power mailing list [email protected] http://www.bughost.org/mailman/listinfo/power
