Hi All,
Thank for your work on power stuff and it really helps me a lot. I'm very
excited about it.
Here I'm stuck with an issue when I try to do some power related things on
my own.
As we know, ACPI defines power savings states of device as: D0--on, D3--off,
D2--intermediate. Just like the way we get access to C-states and P-states
of CPU via /proc/acpi/ directory, I want to get access to the state of
monitor, in some way.
The issue occurred to me when I tried to get current state of monitor, that
is, to get to know if the monitor is on or off. Furthermore, I want to know
if the monitor is set to dimmed or not.
The current state of monitor is used by a management programme I'm working
on. Specifically, the programme use it to decide to close the monitor to
save energy. I know this is already done in powertop by listening to idle
state of system for some specified time. But that does not fit my goal very
much, so I wonder if getting the current state of monitor is feasible or
not.

I will be appreciated if anybody could figure this out for me. Both Feasible
way and code snippet will be great.

Thank you for your time!
