A question for people who've been-there-done-that before me with regards
to battery stuff :)
I bought a 540c, which runs fine but the batteries are dead. One just
isn't recognised as even being plugged in, and the other will hold about
6 minutes charge - but it seems odd. I'll plug it into the 540, and
it'll start charging. About 5 minutes later it's reported as being fully
charged - tho Battery Amnesia shows it as 49% charged at the most (a
number like that is suspicious to me!). Immediately after cutting
external power, I get the message that the PB will shut down in 10
seconds - tho with battery amnesia running it only sleeps and can be
woken up, to run for about 10 more minutes before finally shutting down
completely.
I don't know how accurate a test this is, but the
'stick-my-tongue-on-the-terminals' test gives a big 'ol zap whether the
PB shows it as being full or empty, feels about the same (!). Is it
possible that this intelligent battery has turned dumb and doesn't know
how much charge it really has?
Ta :)
