MR> Hi there,
MR> I just replaced the PRAM battery on my PB540c, but I must have
MR> done something wrong as I now have a non-functionnal powerbook.
MR> The upgrade seemed to go well (no extra pieces after the job!).
MR> I reset the power manager before pluging the AC adapter back in
MR> for the first time.
MR> It boots, but with no startup chime. I can hear the powerbook starting up
MR> until it (probably) gets to the desktop. The thing is, the screen is all
MR> black.
MR> I get zero video.
MR> I tried reaching the "about this mac box blindly", but I don't seem to
MR> be "catching it".
MR> Other attempts to click on stuff were in vain.
MR> I'm ready to open it up again, but I don't see what I could look for or
MR> try.
MR> Anyone with a guess?
MR> BTW: I don't have an external monitor to try it on.
I had this problem when I first re-assembled my 540c. Check _ALL_ the
ribbon cables involved - especially the ones connected to the
backlight circuits. I found that one of the cables had not seated
properly - the one between the hinges next to the microphone. I
reseated all of them and it works fine.
