Hello,
I have a 1400c/166 with a Sonnet G3/400 card and everything on it
runs great! I'm using Mac OS 9.1 and have 64 MB on the motherboard
and 128 MB as the virtual Memory disk. I called Sonnet and asked
about the card problems and the salesman said that earlier cards had
some problems but if I got a new card and ran 9.1 things would be OK.
I can even use Virtual PC.
I bought my 1400 new in 1998 with the maxed out ram, 12x CD, & a 2
Gig hard drive for $1800. Since then I spent another $950 for an
ethernet card, 6 Gig upgrade, G3 card, and the Compact flash ram
card. The upgrades came one at a time so things were easier to buy.
My only disappointment has been that I can't run OS X. (Does someone
know another form of Unix for the PB1400?)
Good Luck!
Tony
I have a 1400 117 and a 166. I am going to put a G3 card in one of
them, saw a message that the 166 cpu was a little touchy when it came
to the Sonnett G3 card. Anyone had or heard of trouble with the 166
and the G3.
Thanks
Geoff
