Drew,

Before you go out and buy a 190 trackpad, look at:

ClickPad II <www.halcyon.com/danwr/smoothie.html>, a $14 shareware

Replacing the stock track pad in the 5300 with the following parts will

result in a clickable trackpad for the 5300. These parts were used in

some(?) 190s as well as the 2300c and are direct replacement for the stock

5300 track pad

     *661-1032 Track Pad

    *922-1916 Cable, Flex, Trackpad

ClickPad was written by Bruce Oberg and was updated to ClickPad II by Dan

Wright. I do not seem to have the URL handy. The parts above have the

sensitivity in hardware and so work better, but ClickPad II works and has

some nice adjustment features.

I find the clickable features very nice in some situations. When text

editing however I find I often touch the pad sending my cursor off to some

unwanted place. It would be useful to find something along the line of

QuickKeys that one could use to easily turn the feature off and on.
