I'm having massive problems with my 3400c, which I'll outline below. Any
suggestions would be appriciated.
problem one: The AC adaptor connector came loose from the logic board. I
moved the harddrive, keyboard and ram from my 240 mhz machine to my 200 mhz
parts machine's chassis. It works fine, for the most part. Is it worth
soldering the piece back down and ropping the drive and ram back in the
other 3400? Does 40mhz make a big difference? Does anyone know where I
can get an original G3 ("3500") logic board so I can really turbocharge this
baby?
problem two: the infamous Powerbook 3400 loose battery issue. When the
battery is jostled, sometimes the power shuts off, and I need to re attach
the AC adaptor before the Powerbook can be turned on again. I've tried
calling Apple to get the gasket kit to fix it, but it's ALWAYS busy. Any
other solution? Also, sometimes, the battery drains, and the green
blinking sleep ligt goes solid. When this happens, even plugging the 'book
into AC doesn't help, i need to let it sif for 10+ hours till the light goes
off, only THEN can I run it from AC.
problem three: I'd like to add a USB PCMCIA to this machine. I'm shit outta
luck, huh?
problem four: I'd like to find the 128mb ram card for under $140. I'm shit
outta luck, huh?

"Hostility towards Microsoft is not difficult to find on the Net, and it
blends two strains: resentful people who feel Microsoft is too powerful, and
disdainful people who think it's tacky. This is all strongly reminiscent of
the heyday of Communism and Socialism, when the bourgeoisie were hated from
both ends: by the proles, because they had all the money, and by the
intelligentsia, because of their tendency to spend it on lawn ornaments.
Microsoft is the very embodiment of modern high-tech prosperity--it is, in a
word, bourgeois--and so it attracts all of the same gripes. "- Neal
