Does it work in a dock ?  A loose video cable from the monitor-> LCD 

might cause the problems you have.  I am assuming you already tried 

the power manager button ?

And from it I had got nothing
But the problem seems to have gone away
When I hooked up an external monitor today
The 23 hundreds screen is bright as can be
So I'm up and running again and so I wanted to thank all who had suggestions 
to offer to me.
