I did the above against a 7.6.1 install CD, extracted the files as described, copied them to a floppy, and installed them on a 520 with a Rev. B card cage. The U.S. Robotics 28.8 PCMCIA modem is now recognized. If I insert it into the upper slot, then he icon appears on the desktop (but It can't be opened, of course). If I do a "get information" against that icon, it tells me that the card is installed in the upper slot. I can eject the card if I want and install it in the lower slot and repeat the process.
