Whether the disk is formatted or not is irrelevant at this point since there is no startup chime, also there would have been no way to format the disk since the machine is dead. I would check to make sure that you have the cables connected properly on the drive. You might be a pin or two off and it could be shorting the bus and not allowing the machine to start. -Scott
