Hey, I recently upgraded to OS 8.5.1 on my PowerBook 540c and have been having some modem (Global Village PowerPort Mercury) troubles. Apparently, no matter what, upon startup the computer wants to set the modem to 'Compatible' mode, rather than 'Normal' mode. There is nothing conflicting with the GV control panel, but the modem doesn't seem to hang up properly after disconnecting from the internet. I am using the latest version of the GV software (2.5.5) and am completely baffled. I tried resetting the PRAM, trashing the prefs, everything....
Any ideas?
