Wonder if anyone has encountered this problem? I upgraded my Powerbook 520c with a PowerPC daughtercard. Everything worked perfectly. However I needed to go back to the old CPU to run an old app that was incompatible with the PowerPC. Upon switching back to the 68k CPU, the machine booted with a Sad Mac and the hard drive wouldn't spin up. Tried the new CPU again, same thing. Disconnected everything and reconnected to make sure all cables were in tight, but now, when I power-on, all I get is a clicking sound from the hard drive - sounds like a rotary phone dial. No fan, no power to screen, no beeps, nothing. When I push command, control, alt and power at the same time, the clicking stops, though. This happens with either CPU, and it doesn't matter if I have a boot floppy in the disk drive. I left it charging all night and it still happened this morning. I have a new hard drive I could test, but I'm wondering if the system is damaged in some way, if that could damage the new drive.
