Just FYI. When I've needed to install software on a PowerBook without CD-ROM, I've just put the CD in my iMac, shared the CD, and then mounted the CD on the PowerBooks desktop (or any other Mac for that matter) via ethernet. Then it installs just as if the CD were actually in the PowerBook. I've even done OS updates this way. It has saved me the hassle of connecting a CD-ROM drive to the PowerBook which on older PowerBooks can be frustrating at times (SCSI voodoo). Of course this still requires an ethernet option.
