Hi: I need help. This morning when I tried to go online my Powerbook 3400c would not connect to the internet. I tried my card modem and my external modem. When PPP window is open I ask it to connect. It says "Connecting..." and there is no sound at all. ---no sound at all. Then an error message comes up which says that the modem is not responding properly and to check connections and settings and choose the coorect port, etc. All of which I do. I also changed modems. Several times. Same response.[I have also tried different ISPs] So I think I have isolated the problem to PPP software. I use System 8.1 When PPP is open My "Get Info" window says and Open Transport 1.3 Open Transport/PPP 1.0.1 Ordinarily I would try to re-set preferences but there do not seem to be any. What next? HELP. For about two or three months when asking PPP to connect, I have often had to turn the modem on and off. However, I have this problem also when asking it to connect with the Dayna Card too.
