I had the same problem with a clean load of 7.6 on my 540c. What you have to do is use either another Mac or a Windows->Mac floppy creator. Another Mac is easy - expand the BIN/HQX into a folder and drag the installer onto a Mac format floppy. Write protect the floppy and put it in the other Mac. Drag it onto the desktop and execute it. I managed it by using HFV Explorer version 1.3.1 for Windows. I used Stuffit for Windows to extract the installer in BIN form, then used HFV Explorer to create a Mac floppy and expand the BIN file onto it in Installer form. FYI - Write Protect the floppy so that it doesn't change the file type. Put the disk in the Mac and drag the file onto the desktop and execute it from there. HFV Explorer is available on Tucows and other places. Hope this helps! Mike Hebel mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
