I've used VPC 2.1 on a G3/300 DT. Not a PB, but that should be irrelevant to VPC.
Subjectively, I felt that Win95 felt like it was running on a PC of maybe 40-50% the clock speed of the G3. (I wish I had some hard numbers to back up this guesstimate.) Running even Win95 on a 486 is painful anyway. Your notebook is what, maybe 70MHz? If you have a PPC PB of 170MHz or better you'll probably get equivalent Win performance. So if you've got a 2400 or 3400, or even the high-end 1400, you should be OK. If you can use Mac apps for most stuff and only have to use VPC for a few Win apps, you might be able to get by with a slower PB too. You'll really want lots of RAM, so that you can allocate "a full PC worth" to VPC to get decent performance. If you've never used emulators before, it's nice to have at least a 800x600 display, so that the 640x480 emulated window fits completely. I gave VPC a 500MB virtual disk and set it to run with 64MB RAM since I had 128MB in my G3 at the time. Note that I never had to do much in Windows, mostly playing a bit with Access and testing web browsers that weren't available for Mac. Tim -- Tim Larson <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< Info.
