I was reading some online instructions ( http://www.fastlight.demon.co.uk/jg/duobatt.html) on how to rebuild a duo battery using 10 individual 4/5 A 1.2 Nimh batteries and decided to try it.
The instructions, by James Garry, seemed excellent. Checking his U.S. source for batteries, I found them to cost about $4 each U.S. I then went searching for a Canadian source so I could avoid cross border hassles. I found them at Belmatic Battery in Burlington, Ontario for about $6.15 Cdn, roughly the equivalent. When I went to actually order the battery, I found they would be prepared to do the rebuilding for $10-$20 more than the cost of the batteries. If the battery pack was open (I had gotten this far), it would be $10. If they had to crack open the battery, they'd charge an extra $5-6 on top of the $10. This works out to about $75 Cdn. ($48-$50U.S.) for a duo battery with brand new cells, 10 of them rated at 2000ma (could be 2100 - can't remember now). If there is a better price on rebuilds in Canada, I would love to find out where because I have a couple more to get rebuilt. This seems like a good price. Does anyone know of a better deal here in the north? If you want to have Belmatic rebuild your battery (I think they will do more than just duos), you can contact them through: http://www.belmatic.com/ or [EMAIL PROTECTED] The person's name who does it is Ron Pridham. I am waiting to get my battery back in the mail. Can't wait to have my 280C with a full charge! Tom -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
