(co posting at swaplist too)
anybody wanna do this for me?

yesterday i called the local mac repair store and put this to them.
they didn't want to take my money and work on this for me. they wanted
me to trash it and buy something from them.
i don't wanna.
i wanna fix this one.
or get someone who can fix it for me as a labor of love--and tenacity.

powerbook duo 2300c.
found with hard drive torn out.copper sheilding torn in the process. i
trimmed back the sharp edges of the copper sheilding yesterday to a nice
blunt straight edge, flush with the bottom case edge.

the IDE copper ribbon cable from the logic board to the drive is intact.
i have a new-in -the-package IDE drive to replace the missing one.
the red and black, dual, spiral twisted wires that connect to the
trackpad are cut thru on the side closest to the catch. the copper
ribbon cable that connected the trackpad to the keyboard was intact the
first time i disassembled it. i slipped and tore it thru. that's gotta
be replaced.

there is a half- inch tall plastic frame inside, that goes all the way
around the case outline, silver colored, and creates partitions around
the various areas like the battery bay, the trackpad area, the hard
drive bay, and the keyboard area, to hold the works up off the
circuitry. this godzilla broke off a piece of that in the hard drive bay
when he was tearing out the former hard drive. it looks as if it
probably also had screw holes to hold a framework, that held the hard
drive in place when inserting it. i suppose unless some alternate
genius can hold my fresh hard drive in place, that frame probably has to
come out and be replaced with another one, so the new hard drive can be
anchored down in its cell.

the mac guy on the phone insised that if the notebook refuses to light
up, the motherboard must be bad. he would not fix it.

i have two a/c power supplies for it that are good, a battery charger
with one known good charging slot, and three batteries that go in it
yellow and come out green. also an external floppy drive for it.
all of which fell into my hands for free.

you see why i want to have it repaired and not thrown in the trash.

to recap:
definitely needs:
-trackpad ribbon
-trackpad red/black wire hookup
-probably needs frame replaced
-i will supply new hard drive
-could be in need of another logicboard/motherboard/ since screen
doesn't come on.

i charged the batteries up and put one in the bay. i reset the power
manager. i plugged in the a/c. i left it overnight. tried to power on
the next day. nothing. left it aother day. tried again. nothign.
checked the battery in the charger. yellow to green in minutes.

the PRAM batteries are in their little shrink wrap packet under the
trackpad, intact. may need new, may recharge once rewired whole.

anybody wanna take this one for me and resurrect this puppy? or take
this one for parts and other repairs and send me a working one, that
uses all my doodads that came with it?

I could pad it up good and send it to you from 90291
