SORRY joker, while it IS possible to get 24V from a 12V supply, it is a far more sophisticated supply than the 100-series supply posted earlier (which stepped 12V down to 7.5V). There are designs for switching power supplies available, if you're into that sort of thing. here are some good sites to start with, if you're looking for decent schematics. http:// < www.electronics.50g.com/ > < dmoz.org/Science/Technology/Electronics/Reference/Circuit_Archives/ > < www.imagineeringezine.com/e-zine/hcircuits.html > If the power plug and jack are some obscure Ferengi design, then you can a) find a 1400 supply corpse to hack off the cord/plug and re-use OR b) replace both the plug and jack on the 1400, with say, a DIN jack and plug. This is not for the faint-of heart, and requires soldering wires to the original jack pads on the PB motherboard, choosing a jack/plug with adequate pins (bigger the better, as long as it fits), and attaching the new jack to the PB cabinet. I know, because I did this, and it still works fine. But it's not for the squeamish. Better to put your money into a spare new/refurb 24V battery for the 1400 IMHO. m -- Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
