I have DSL and I support both DSL and Cable at work for the ISP I work for :)

Generally, DSL is a more stable connection that seems to have a higher 
connection speed (maxes out at 1.5mbps). Cable, since it's a shared 
connection, can have higher (even much higher) connection speeds, but since 
it's shared it's variable. Sometimes you'll be flying at 3mbps, other times 
you feel like you're on dialup.

If you can research and find out how many people in your node have Cable, 
you can probably figure out which one you should get.
