Greetings, all. This is my first message to the PowerBook list, since I am a brand-new old PowerBook owner.
I just picked up a PowerBook 150 nice and cheap with new battery and charger. It makes the startup "bong" and the hard drive grinds away for a few seconds, but there is no display at all. The backlight does come on when I power the system up, and the brightness control does affect the amount of backlighting, but there is no display. I heard something rattling inside, so I opened the PB up and found a loose screw. I check the display's ribbon cables, and they all look OK. Is it possible the screw bouncing around inside shorted out and zapped the display controller, or is this a common issue with the PowerBook 150's (other than the batteries catching fire, of course)? -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
