I have a powerbook 5300cs running 8.6 that I lent out to a friend. I
was trying to entice him with the Starry Night programme for those
who are into astronomy. Long story short, he was worried about the
thing being stolen so he used the password application to set up a
password. And now he's forgotten it. I've tried booting from a CD,
and the right windows come up via the CD but the hard drive isn't
seen. Is there any way around this? Starting with extensions off
won't work (nor should it really.)

This thing is due to go in next week to the REA programme
(hopefully). The password information will show as "This powerbook
belongs to XXXX " with the XXXX being my information, name, address
and phone numbers thank heavens but I'd like to get into the drive
before I send it off.

We've tried numerous passwords, each time only being given three chances.

Thanks.
