Passive matrix screens do have one very good thing about them...that same blurring you see at an angle makes it much harder for OTHERS to see your screen....makes for increased privacy. That said, I do have a 1400cs and noticed the line mentioned...I wasn't aware that it was normal and I'm glad to find out that it as, as I'm rather fond of the machine and I'd hated for the screen to be on the verge of failure.
