I am new to this list but not others ... having finally acquired a Powerbook.
I have a 520c and want to upgrade the screen to an active matrix one. Am I
correct in thinking all I need to do is find a 540c screen and do the swap?

Not exactly.

The mobo and supporting cards are the same across all PB5xx models.

However, the mobo-to-display cable is different for the 540c (and I would
also assume the 550c) and the gray scale and non-TFT color PB5xxs.

What you need acquire is an active matrix display (complete), AND the
display-to-motherboard cable.

Peter.
