I recommend Claris Em@iler - v. 1.1 is free. Excellent if you have 
multiple accounts and loaded with a plethora of features, but a small 
footprint. Still using it now in OS X in Classic. Also about the only app 
that can send AOL mail from your AOL account.

Go to <http://www.pure-mac.com> for all your sw needs. Everything by 
category -plus more band in a box type stuff you can demo.
