On my 520, sometimes the latch mechanism of the battery does not engage
properly, and then the battery is not "seen". You can switch out the
latching thingie with one from a really dead battery if you take it off
carefully, so as not to break the little tabs. I resurrected what I thought
was a dead battery using this method. I knew the battery was OK, because if
I held it in with my hand (hard to type) firmly the computer could "see" it.
But with the weak latch it would not stay in enough to be "seen".
