Christopher, 1400 PBs seem to be _very_ finicky about which RAM they will
accept. I recently acquired a batch of new 24MB modules with the idea of
reselling them on eBay . . . sigh, it hasn't worked out the way I
expected. The darn things seem to work in about 1/2 the 1400s in which
they've been tried, and NOT work in the other 1/2, causing crashes,
lockups, blank start screens, etc. I thoroughly tested each module and
pair-of-modules I have sold so far, but I've got no idea why they will
work fine in my 1400 and then sometimes not in the customer's 1400.

The only glimmer of a connection I've seen so far is that the 3 'Books I
have available for testing are 117mhz based and two of the non-compatible
customer 1400s are 133mhz. I'm still gathering data though on the other
sales, especially with which PBs these modules _did_ work.

On one of the 117s (a friend's) we couldn't get any combo of 2 modules to
work without pulling the 'factory-slot' module. I naturally figured that
was a 'solution' but then one of the first pairs I sold failed to work in
the customer's 1400/133 even when he had pulled the factory-slot module.

Well, I guess y'all didn't really need to hear all that, but I figured
I'd point out the difficulty of determining whether any given module will
work with your 1400. The main thing is to buy from a vendor who will back
up the sale and refund your purchase if the module(s) turns out to be
incompatible.

One other interesting item I'd sure like to understand: why the heck does
my 117mhz 1400 with a 183 NUPowr upgrade see all 64MBs installed? After
everything I've read and all my own experiences with 1400s I was
_positive_ my 117-logicboarded PB should only be able to see only 60MB .
. .
