Try removing the rechargeable battery. Then unplug the AC Adapter from the back of the unit, then push the reset button in and hold it down for a minute or two. This should reset the Power Manager. Then plug the AC Adapter into the rear of the unit (leave the rechargeable battery out), just plugging the unit in will likely give you a start chime and it will begin to boot. If not, press the start button and try to fire it up. It should boot after that. I have found with my Powerbook 3400 (PRAM battery is weak) that it often doesn't want to boot when the rechargeable battery is installed if it doesn't have enough charge to run the machine... Once you get the machine fired up, let it run for a full day or more and see if you can put some charge back into the PRAM battery. (Once it fires up, you can put the rechargeable batteryback in at anytime and it wil recognize it.) If the PRAM battery won't recharge (and it's probably time anyway) replace it... they are cheap and easy to get to on the 3400...
