I'm a newcomer to the world of Mac. I've just been given a PowerBook 3400c as a gift. Mac OS 8.5 is installed (I think). This model doesn't have an internal CD module - just floppy. ANyway, it wasn't booting, but I used Disk Tools on a floppy to run Disk First Aid.
It tells me that the Macintosh HD has problems. The message is; "Invalid BTree node size, 3, 0" Anyone have any ideas? I'd love to find a way to get this Mac working again without having to initialize the HD, since it has word processing software on it that I wouldn't be able to re-load after initializing the disc because I don't have a CD module. Is there something I can do to get it working again? Anything I can download, for instance? It's just not mounting the HD... I'm losing the will to live!
