Is this the 2300 with two stripes on the display?  That makes sense to me,
as when I first got my identical machine, I took off the keyboard and
reseaated the display adapter and the stripes cleared up completely, but
soon reverted to type.  I had almost decided that I had been stoned and had
imagined it.  I'm going to fiddle with that particular adapter now, and see
what gives.
