Hi again, With the PB540 fixed I was finally able to run EMMpathy and find out what was goin' on with the batteries... by the looks of things, nothing! EMMpathy couldn't even read them, though, strangely, after taking out the battery then plugging it back in again, I could "name" the battery. Then neither Battery Probe or Diagnostics could see a battery in the right slot.
As far as I know the machine as been idle for over 3 years, so battery problems aren't surprising. Before my multimeter died on me I tested the batteries for output, I was getting a few mA in each.
