smashing glass heh?... the "you messed around in my inards and screwed up something" chime on an SE-30 sounds like the start to Dungeons and Dragons!
you should see a "sick mac" icon on the monitor, usually with an error code in hex. most of the time the issue is either badly seated memory or a problem with a recently added expansion card.
