(A metal barrel molded into the plastic... the plastic cracks and the post pulls out.) I think that this was one of the problems that would have been fixed by the REA. One thing to watch for- Are any of the other plastics, specifically the right-side clutch (hinge) cover also distorting as you open and close the display? If so, then you also have a broken clutch mount on the frame stiffener (internal metal frame for the base of the PowerBook).
