If you download a service manual, you can decide whether or not you
could cope with changing it. It's a lot simpler than the 500, as all you
need to do is take off the end caps from the hinges, take the keyboard off,
and take the top off. This exposes the battery, which is like a 500 one,
but superimposed rather than side by side. Don't tear the trackball cable.
