Yet it works, but I'm electing 8.1's elegance and features over 7.6.1's speed.

A blend of Version Tracker and InformINIT would be perfect!
So far my serious max version muscle apps are:
Eudora 3.1.3
OE 4.5
IE 4.5 but now iCab (68k) 2.8.1 instead. Far greater speed and
stability and current features, even over it's PPC version!
Graphics Converter 4.0

I have 32k on-board RAM, RAM-Doubled to 64. I couldn't ask for more,
even with Graphic Converter going at full tilt.

I found a very nice 190/5300 desktop icon replacement at Rainbow Icon.

I'll have to try Home Depot; neighborhood hardwares don't seem to carry it.

Got the cradle hooked in but there's a hitch. There's no 68k Palm
HotSync software. Palm Buddy does connect up on the 190 however you
can only download files from your Palm. Trying to feed your Palm
files only results in a stall. Also you have no 68k programs to
convert text files into .doc files prior uploading anyway. If Small
Dog has a 190 infra-red card and the software maybe I can do some
HotSyncing that way.

I'll try to take a pix of it when it crops up again.

The closest is "miles & miles" away I fear, and having two jobs I
just don't have the time. So though I miss having 8.1's file sharing
files, we might get by via the I-net to proxy file sharing instead.

>Good luck with the new toy,

Well, beyond its sentimental value, hopefully it'll be more than a
toy since this 190's going to be doing p/t double duty to log and
profile calls with the Manorville (NY) Volunteer FD Brigade's
paramedic bus. Quite a rugged little machine! ;-)

I'm hoping Small Dog Inc. has enough antique hardware to help give
this 190 doggie some pep, like a new mouse and a larger hard drive
and if possible a CD. Gotta find out the offerings and options there.

        Thanks all!
