<An exhaustive search of the web turns up the info that the 6 volt

double-disk lithium battery set probably can be re-charged. The coin-sized

rig has three twisted wires (white, black, red) that plug into the mother

board.

Does anyone have an idea of how to charge this? I have a multi-purpose

charging rig that handles batteries from wafers to 9volt. I could connect

the lithium set with aligator clips to the positive and negative (red and

black, I should imagine).

A new set runs over $50 from a supplier, so I figure I don't have much to

lose by trying this. Once charged, the lithium is supposed to last for

years.

Does anyone know of a charger available just for this setup?>

The PRAM batteries in all PowerBooks are rechargable. No special rig is
needed. They usually recharge under normal use of the PB when plugged in.
If the PRAM battery completely drains, Apple recommends leaving the PB
plugged in for 48 hours to fully recharge the PRAM battery. If it will not
take a charge, then it is bad and would need to be replaced. (By the way,
$50 is way out of line for a Duo PRAM battery) After charging it, you can
test the battery by doing the following:

1. Set date and time
2. Shut down PB
3. Remove AC adapter and system battery or batteries
4. Leave for 10 minutes
5. Replace system battery and plug in AC adapter
6. Boot

If the unit lost date and time, then the PRAM battery probably needs to be
replaced.

Even new PRAM batteries can drain, but they can be recharged. They can drain
if the PB is left unplugged for an extended period of time with a dead or
missing system battery. This will happen quickly if the unit is left
unplugged in sleep mode and the system battery drains or is missing.

Hope this helps.
