Well, I am back among this talkative bunch, this time with a fresh new 10mb mailbox, lets see you fill that one up! (well, with good stuff anyway...)
In the continuing trials of my 3400c, I finally got it to boot and formatted, OSed and moved data back to it over the network, the main problem seemed to be the jumper on the hard drive; it was set to 'cable select', I removed the jumper and it works ALMOST right, still won't wake from sleep without using the reset switch in back. I think it is still the HD jumper, I'll change it to 'master' and try it. Once I get everything sorted out, I will install Yellow Dog Linux on a partition and soon OS X to see just how badly it will run on a PPC 180. I might even pick up one of those $25 firewire cards OWC is talking about.... Amazingly, it now boots in about 1/4 the time. I guess it just took a long time to load all those extensions, etc. off the old 1.2 gig drive. Thanks for all the assistance, I am planning a web page of directions to help future PowerBook owners get into the late 90's with a 3400c!
